School gardens offer common ground for children to connect with each other while exploring the natural environment and allowing their imaginations to soar!

Every school year, 14,000 elementary and junior high school students benefit from the Explore Ecology School Gardens program in 31 schools across Santa Barbara County. Explore Ecology trained Garden Educators bring students into nature as part of their school day. In the outdoor classroom of the garden, children get exercise, put their hands in the soil, and experience firsthand what they learn in school.
